垣谷 美智子
MICHIKO KAKITANI

神奈川県生まれ、京都府在住。
1997年、多摩美術大学大学院美術研究科絵画専攻修了。

2017年から5年間、大学院農学研究科の研究室で植物の栽培や品質管理の技術補佐員として従事。

植物栽培の経験を通して、植物が成長過程で見せる変化の面白さや、精巧で複雑な形の美しさに魅せられ、植物画の制作を始める。

Born in Kanagawa, Live and work in Kyoto.

Master of Fine Arts, Tama Art University in 1997.

I had worked as a technical assistant in plant cultivation and quality control in the laboratory at the Graduate School of Agricultural Sciences for 5 years from 2017.

Through this experience in plant cultivation, I became fascinated with the interesting changes plants undergo during their growth process and also with the beauty of their elaborate and intricate forms, and began creating botanical illustrations.
